First off,
thanks bunches to Emily for inviting me to her blog! And in case you don’t know
me, I’m Cassie and
I must warn you, I’m a major dork. But
I’m totally proud of my dorkism! Helped me when I wrote one of my books,
lol. And I laugh. A
lot! So if ‘lol’s’ and smiley faces are littered throughout this post, I
apologize. But I really am
‘laughing out loud’. Lol. See,
there I go. :)
Thanks for being here, Cassie. First up: when and why did you start your blog? So, last August my mommy told me I
should start up a blog to talk about the book I just finished. I was like, um… I have a hard time
working Facebook. How the heck am I supposed to keep up a blog? But I
did it, and even though Mommy was the only follower at the time, it was a great
outlet to yap my mouth off about stuff that nobody else really cared about,
lol. And I don’t get to talk to adults like, at all. I stay at home
and talk to my 4 year old and 1 year old, and though those conversations about
whether Elmo is better than Cookie Monster are awesome, I needed something more.
I’m a chatty girl (I’m sure you’ll have to edit this interview cuz of my blabby
mouth) so when I discovered you could comment on people’s blogs and they could
comment on yours, I said hello to blogging!
You're so bubbly, I wouldn't dream of editing you.
You’ve co-hosted several blog hops. What is the secret to
having a successful blog hop? Ha ha! Not sure if there is a secret or anything. I’m just
really vocal about things when I get SUPER EXCITED. (squee!) My first blog hop I hosted by myself,
so I was super nervous and hoped I was doing everything right. But gotta
say, when I saw the links pop up on that little linky links thingy, my nerves
just went vamoose! And blog hops became something I just
loved to do, so when people ask me to co-host, I’m all over that! Plus, it’s a
great way to meet people and also give away prizes. (That’s the best
part!)
Speaking of blog hops… have you joined I’m Hearing Voices or It’s Getting Hot in Here?
Cuz they’re gonna be awesome!!!!!! With
some fabulous prizes! (Yipee!!!!)
I've signed up for both. They're gonna rock!
What is your most memorable blogging experience? Oh! I
know! Juliana
Brandt’s Warm Fuzzy Blogfest was the best thing I did for my
blogging. Before that, I was really shy about what I posted. (Me? Shy???? No!) But really, I was terrified
to be myself online because my personality is a bit… out there, lol. So
when I entered this particular blogfest, there was one week when you had to
post a picture that summed up your inspiration for your book and people had to
go around and guess what your story is about based on that picture. I don’t know what was with me the day
everyone posted, but I started making these crazy and wild guesses, cracking myself up but probably annoying the crap
out of everyone else. But hey! I
won that week! And ever since,
I’ve been able to be as crazy wild on my own blog as I am in real life.
Blogfests and blog hops are a terrific way to break the ice with other bloggers.
What are the top three reasons you continue to blog today? Do you have enough room for this
answer? There are of course the obvious reasons. With all the wonderful advice and
writing tips and blogs from people at every level in the writing process,
there’s no way I could’ve learned as much as I did in the short amount of time
I’ve been involved.
I’ve met some amazing people who share the same interests and
gained super fabulous friends. Because
blogging has helped me personally, my writing has grown into something
more. I’m more inspired, more creative, and a lot happier about how much
time it takes to write. (When I say write, I include revising, editing,
querying, etc.)
And mostly because blogging has done more for me than I could’ve
hoped for. It is my lifeline. As
a mother, everything I do revolves around other people. My entire schedule is based on dirty
diapers, nap time, snack time, play time, time-outs, tantrums, so on and so
forth. Writing and blogging are the things I get to do for me. I get
to immerse myself into amazing advice from people who totally get it, and in
turn I’ve grown so much as not only a writer, but as a person.
See, I’m capable of cheesy stuff too, lol :)
I hear ya on the mommy talk!
Random Question: Who is your favorite author? Oh, why did you give me such a hard
random question? I could take the
easy answer and say JK Rowling because Harry Potter is just incredible! But
there are so many authors I admire because of how much they’ve done for
me. Can I cheat and say a few? Well,
I’m going to anyway, lol. Ali Cross, Rebecca Belliston, Jolene Perry, and Alex Cavanaugh for taking the time to help out
aspiring writers like myself. And
the talent they have is just jaw dropping. I was left gawking like an
idiot after I read each one of their books, way beyond words to describe just
how amazing they were.
We ARE spoiled by the massive amount of talent and generosity in the writer-blogging world! Thanks again for mentoring us, Cassie. You're a joy!
Thanks again, Emily! :)

Well thank you, Cassie!
Blogfests are awesome - best way in the world to make new friends! Cassie has done that very well.
Cyber chocolates to both of you. I can assure you I'm not your typical lol type of guy.....but I chuckled all the way through this...personality and talent transcends time, distance, culture.
cassie, you're so good at it, and i know you're giving crits for the "help a blogger blogfest", you both might be interested in this blog critique blogfest from teralyn.

Dorky and cheesy-these are a few of my favorite things!! ;)
I really like your blogging mentor monday theme!
Aww, Cassie, I'm glad that blogfest was as enjoyable for you as it was for me!! You have the most contagious personality and I absolutely adore reading your writing! =D
(going off to check out those other blog hops you mentioned :)
Love this! Cassie's positivity and energy is contagious. I always love to see what she's focusing on next. She's been so great for the blogging community!

Great interview Emily! And Cassie...haha. Gosh I luv ya girl. :)
I'm allowed to reply on this thread, right? Cuz I'm gonna anyway, lol.
Thanks Alex! I know I'm not the only one who appreciates what you do for the writing community.
Oh ho! Cyber chocolate! Eep! You just became my new best friend.
I think I'm just the opposite of you, because I laugh at everything. I was once described as 'the girl who laughs all the time'. Haha! (There I go again, lol. Agh! Can't stop it!)
I've looked into that blogfest, and it sounds awesome! I'm gonna have to see how busy my schedule is though (Ha! that sounds like such a cop out, but I promise, I'm actually going to check my schedule, lol) So many blogfests! So little time!
Yay! Unfortunately I'm more dork than cheese, but that's all right, right?
Juliana, you rock! No kidding, I had so much fun with that blogfest :)
I'm totally speechless! Congratulations, you've accomplished a feat that's rarely achieved! I love you girl!
Thanks! I'm glad I didn't frighten everyone away, lol. :)
Oh gosh, I love ya too :)
Okay... Adding my own comment cuz I just wanna hog your blog today! I do this when I visit people too, totally invade! (Maybe that's why I don't get invited to many parties, haha!)
Thanks so much Emily for this awesomeness! And so glad you didn't have to edit my yap trap, lol. Oh, and for dealing with all my last minute changes to this interview because I can't make up my freakin' mind. You're just amazing!!!!
Such a cute interview! I have to go check out Cassie's blog now. And yay for all the supportive writer-bloggers (and JK Rowling, of course). :)
Cassie, I have yet to read anything of yours that hasn't made me smile. Today was just an added bonus. You're awesome! And keep writing and blogging, because I love to smile and laugh, too--which you well know. :)
I just love Cassie! You gotta love her energy :)
Oh my gosh! LOVE Cassie! Her fun "dorkism" (as she calls it) totally shines through. She's fabulous and contagious and I can't help but love her! And Cassie - you have me laughing out loud throughout! You rock! Thanks for mentoring us today!
I love this interview! Cassie your energy is inspiring. I'm visiting your blog right now :)
Great questions, Emily. Thank you both!
I don't know if I can say how much I love this girl. She is awesome and her comments on my blog AND on my MS make me laugh. She is a SUPER talented writer and she just gets me. Not just as a writer but my humor too, which isn't always the easiest to find.
Thanks ladies. This was an awesome interview!
Cassie is so bubbly. She's like a fizzing glass of champagne complete with fresh strawberries.
Yay! I saw you followed me. (Eep!)
And JK Rowling totally rules. :)
Dude, you still make me feel like a crazed out fan whenever you compliment me. *nearly faints at computer*
Trying to think of a joke to tell you to make you smile some more. Hmmm...
Guy walks into a bar...
No! That one totally sucks! Scratch that and just think about one of those great one liners from Elf.
"I forgot to give you a hug!" :)
WUZAAAAAA! Just splashing some more energy on here. Just guzzled some Mountain Dew, so there's plenty to go around. Hee hee!
And I love ya too girl!
Dorkism rules!
You are absolutely all sorts of fabulous Leigh! :)
Wahoo! More victims... I mean friends! :)
More energy I need to splash I see.
YABAGAZOOO!!!!
Haha, funny word. I think I may start using that, lol.
Nah, you were fine. You're a doll!
Gagging on my tongue cuz I have no idea how to respond to this, except by saying, 'awwwwww!'
I love ya!
Nice meeting you, Morgan!
Thanks Michael! I like the word bubbly. It reminds me of bubbles, haha!
And holy crap I want some fresh strawberries! Mouth watering major right now.
Oh chocolate covered strawberries! That would be killer.
Or strawberry cheesecake! Oh ya... salivating.
And strawberry rhubarb pie. With loads of whipped cream.
Strawberry shortcake. Oh man, that would hit the spot right now.
Oh and Kiwi Strawberry soda! I could live off that stuff, it's so yummy!
And now I must wipe the drool from my keyboard. Sigh, if only strawberries were in season. (What season are they in?) Haha.
Cassie, you are so funny.. I'm giggling over here reading the comments because I imagine you bouncing up and down with excitement, LOL
Cassie, your energy really does come through!! I've thought about coming up with a blogfest, but I think some people (like you and Alex and others) are just better at that sort of thing -- good at herding writers, which is no easy task. :PP
Nice to meet you, Accidental Writer!
Thanks, Coleen!
Thanks for coming by, Jordan!
Thanks, Kelley!
The hubs accuses me of stitching an ab ball into the recliner whenever I get all squeely... which is often, lol.
Coming down from my caffeine high though. Must find more chocolate. ;)
Oh, I would never compare myself to Alex! That guy is a blogfest master! Thank you for the compliment that totally gave me the fluttery effect :)
Cassie is so REAL. I enjoyed the interview and can't believe you've hosted so many blogfest in a short amount of time. Very nice.
Cassie is super awesome. I enjoyed critiquing her query a little while ago. And if her writing is anything like her responses, I'm sure her debut book will have me laughing to tears. Awesome. She speaks my language.
Great Mentor Monday, you guys! :)
I adore Cassie. I think if I had half the energy she does, I would probably conquer the world. But of course, she will be beat me to it :)
As soon as I saw you were interviewing Cassie, I knew this post would be the blog equivalent of caffeine. So much energy in here! Whew! :) Great interview, ladies!
What a fun interview. But, then it's with Cassie, so no surprise there. Totally agree about Jo Rowling. She's fabulous. I wish she'd write more.
Seriously, you just made me laugh again. Love it. And the "Guy walks into a bar" was totally overdone. "What's a Christmas Gram. I want one!"
Dude, you're awesome! Where's the link to your blog?? I wanna follow :)
Oh, you speak Elvish too? ;)
And your critique on my query and my opening chapter was full of amazingness! Totally helped me out!
Oh my gosh, I adore YOU!
And it is 2012, so if the world ends, you can all blame the Pepsi company for putting so much caffeine in their products ;)
Haha, did I tire you out Carrie? Let's have a breather, shall we?
Um...
I don't know how to do this, lol.
Just imagine a big white puffy cloud full of dancing koala bears. (Their a pretty calm animal, right?)
Oh my gosh, I hate typos. I meant 'they're'.
*smacks forehead*
So do I! I want her to write some other killer MG adventure :)
Um, this girl sounds awesome! Can we be blog friends.... pleeeeease?! Haha ( :
Great interview Cassie...so fun to see so many comments!
I'm signed up for I'm Hearing Voices - it will be a lot of fun!
Absolutely!
(Snagged another one... mwhahahahaha!)
:)
Thanks Mommy! I think Emily might block all my comments soon. Haha. :)
Did you read that everyone? My mommy reads my blog still! Isn't she just amazing????
Whoot whoot!!! It's gonna be total supa fly!
What a blogger! I wish I had her energy. It's very nice to meet her.
Great interview and loved your answers:)
Fun interview Emily! Cassie is a gem :)
Great interview, and I agree about the amazing support our bloggy friends have been giving us!
Oh nice to meet you too. I wish I had this much energy everyday, but alas... some days sleep deprivation catches up with me, lol.
Thanks so much! Huge smiles :D
Oh, what kind of gem Hope? Can I be a pretty one??? :)
I know right? I nearly faint every time one of them leaves a comment on my blog. Dude... that's awesome!
Hi, Emily,
Cassie sounds like the life of the party and a good blogging buddy to have.
Loved the interview - you certain do have personality galore, Cassie Mae! :D
The first time I read your comment Cassie, I totally thought it said "shagged another one." Ha!
Yay for Cassie's mommy! Thanks for coming by. You should be really proud of your daughter. She's a wonderful blogger and writer!
I couldn't have said it better, Hope. : )
You got that right!
Lol, I'm not sure if I'm the life of the party. I think people think I'm the really drunk girl, when in actuality, I've never had a drop of alcohol in my entire life! Oh man, could you imagine??
Thanks Trisha! More big huge smiles :D
Holy crap! That would've been bad, lol. Still giggling over this. Hee hee!
The lol's were just fine. I really enjoyed this interview. So much personality just popped from the screen. You're smiling in your picture, Cassie, but I can hear you laughing and enjoying yourself.
THAT is awesomeness.
I love all the voice that comes out in everything Cassie writes! Awesome interview.
Oh good! I actually used an lol in a manuscript once. It was totally this:
“You don’t have to apologize. I know she just adores me.” I nudge him with my elbow and he smirks.
“Must be because you’re so humble about it.”
Lol. “Hey, you know you want this.”
My critique partner was like, Not sure if this is grammatically correct, but I almost didn't catch it, cuz I was laughing too.
Yeah, did a ctrl F after that. :)
Thank you Peggy. My voice is super loud, even my words scream everything! Lol.
But really, I know what you mean and thank you so much for the compliment :)
I've recently started following Cassie, I love he, she makes me smile. Thanks for the interview Emily :-)
Cassie does sound like a joy - what a fun interview!
You're welcome, Sarah!
Emily - thanks for the interview!
Cassie - you are so full of joy and enthusiasm and it bubbles through all your words. I love that!!! Now, I'm going to check out those blogfests.
I love you too! Dude, everyone has totally made me goofy grin all day. I think the hubs is about to call a doctor ;)
Thank you Susan!
I love the word bubbles! I really do :) I also like the word giggle. Hee hee. How can someone say the word giggle without giggling? Hee hee. (See!) ;)
Your laughter is infectious!
Great interview, luv the insights:)
That was a fun interview. Thanks girls.
Aw you're so expressive :) And big hi to Emily! :)
Thanks Mark! And thank you for the follow too :)
:D I wish there was a bigger emoticon for a huge smile. :)
Expressive is good, right? I've been told that I'm animated and I wasn't sure if that was a compliment or not, haha. I'm like... I look like a cartoon? Which one? :)
What a great interview! Enthusiasm, smiles, and dorkiness are always welcome! : ) Thanks, ladies!
Yay for the dork! Hee hee! I was trying to think of something cool that totally rhymes, but all I could think of was dork fork, and that sounds really wrong, lol.
Cassie -
What a GREAT interview!!!!
Also. I'm flattered - you put me in some awesome company :D
That's because you are AMAZING! It would be blasphemous for me not to include you in such awesome company!
You totally rock!
Cassie, your enthusiasm shoots through your words. I was getting hyper just reading this interview:) Our blogger/writing community really is awesome!
Another great interview Emily:)
I'm a little blog-hop-a-phobic, but I think Cassie might have just cured me. Contagious energy! Glad to meet you.
Thanks Deana! The writing community totally rocks!
Oh you should totally join in on the Valentine's day one. It'll be so super fun!!
And it's so awesome to meet you! We will cure you of your blog hop phobia :)
