Hi Emily! Thanks so much for having me over. I love your Blogging Mentor Mondays, and I'm excited to play a part in them. I have to admit... I feel slightly inadequate compared to the awesome variety of people you have on it each week, but hopefully somebody will find something useful! This is a real honor, so thank you for thinking of me. I am officially ready to answer questions!
When and why did you start your blog? I started blogging in July of last year. It was a hard step to take, knowing I was putting myself “out there” but I wanted to learn more through the writing community.
Since you created your first blog, you've assumed a pen name and a whole new blog. Now you’re discontinuing your first blog. What advice can you give someone who is switching blog domains? Sometimes I wonder if this was a smart move. I worked really hard to get to know others through my other blog and was able to build a good following. It’s not pleasant to think of starting over, but now that I have a pen name that is the platform I want to build.
The next important thing is to get out there as your “new self” and visit other people. Comment on their blogs, let them know you switched places, and they should stop by if they get a chance. Twitter and FB are also fabulous ways to spread the word.
All in all, I realize it will take time to build back up again. Still, I just passed 100 followers and I only started it the last week in November. I am thankful that so many have come to follow me in my new spot. I’m lucky to have met such wonderful people in the blogosphere.
What is your most memorable blogging experience? I guess what makes blogging memorable is when you get to meet someone in person and they actually act excited to meet you! I have never found a more supportive group of people, and I really care about them. Even if I haven’t met them in person, I feel like I have gotten to know them through their blog. It’s the relationships that we make with one another, through blog comments, emails, beta requests, crit requests, and lunch dates that will always have a special place in my heart. (Gosh, that sounds cheesy.) But it’s true. The most memorable thing about blogging is the people! YOU GUYS!!!! I LOVE YOU GUYS! (Man, am I sentimental right now, or what?)
What are the top three reasons you blog today?
- Because I love it! I love blogging, and now it’s even better because I have something to blog about.
- I have learned SO MUCH! Education, Inspiration and Motivation.
- The PEOPLE! Yeah, we just got over the mushy part, but I love interacting with everyone each day. I love hearing how they’re doing and seeing what they have to share.
Which would you rather read: mystery or suspense? How can this be the hardest question to answer? Can I choose both? I like both. I read Mary Higgins Clark books forever, and I love John Grisham. Hmm. I swear, Mystery has suspense and Suspense has mystery. So – I would be happy with either, because in reality I’d get both. AND… I like both! *didn’t I just say that?* That wasn’t a good answer, huh? But it’s the best I’ve got!
Thanks for being here, Leigh. I'm feelin' the love! *Group hug*

I love Leigh, she's always so upbeat - and the new haircut rocks :-)
awesome interview. Leigh is super awesome and her blog is one of my favorites to read, and not just because of the eye candy :)
Yay Leigh!!! LOVE HER! Great interview. Two blogs is rough. I had to stop one of mine and it was sad...
Don't know Leigh yet, but, hey, we have the same hair!!
(I really need to update my photo).
I agree, I blog for many of the same reasons. Mostly the interaction with other writers.
Aww! I love the cheese! :) I don't know how you managed two blogs in the first place, superwoman. I can barely handle one, lol.
Great interview ladies!
LOL! Loving the "group hug" Em! This was so much fun! And thanks for the comments everyone!
Lovely interview! Congrats on working a successful move - it's only a matter of time before you're all back to normal, I'm sure!
Leigh is my favorite. But she already knows that. ;)
Nice job ladies. I live Leigh. She is such an awesome blogger!!
Enjoyed the interview. Going to pop right over to Leigh's blog.
Fantastic interview and very inspiring. I love Leigh Covington's pen name :)
Leigh is a great example of getting around to fellow bloggers and supporting them. Thanks for the interview!
This is an awesome community! And I know another author who had to start another blog and he's still trying to rebuild. It's tough.
I like Leigh's spikey hairdo.
I like the idea of writing under a pen name. I think I read somewhere that anonymous writers often feel freer to write without censoring themselves, because no one will know that those words belong to them. But on the other hand, I also like the idea of seeing my own name printed on a book that I wrote.
Isn't her hair cute?
Oh yeah, her eye candy is sweet. : )
sweet interview guys! you're both positive, perky examples!
I have no idea how she's done it.
Get that photo taken! I'd like to see your short hair. I bet it's cute.
I couldn't handle more than one blog either.
Great having you, Leigh! You're such a love.
I agree! Leigh is catching up fast.
Your favorite what? *pout* JK!
She's a wonder!
You're going to love it!
I do, too. It suits her well.
She is marvelous at supporting fellow bloggers!
I can only imagine how tough it would be.
I do, too. It's spunky.
I had the same inner battle. Ultimately, I chose to stick with plain old me.
I am a huge fan of Leigh/Abby's...she has been a great blogging friend and I will support her no matter what her name happens to be. As long as its not Banana Hamock. (This is a FRIENDS joke btw).
Ah, thanks, Tara. Leigh brings the best out in me.
You're a great friend to her, Jessie! I want to hear about this Banana Hamock. It sounds dirty. : D
Such a great interview! Leigh is awesome. And Mary Higgins Clark--I used to devour those books!
I did, too. Mary Higgins Clark is a master storyteller.
Great interview! We LOVE you Abby!!

Nice work, ladies! I made the mistake of reading all the comments on the way down and now I don't feel like I have anything original to say. Hugs anyways! *HUGS*
