- I've been snowed in for three days. I've had plenty of time to revise, but now I have another excuse to wear pajamas all day. I'll have to wear real clothes and make-up again soon. But not today.
- I've found my blogging/writing balance. This means conversing with you magnificent people only two times a week, but my writing time has doubled. Can someone frown and smile at the same time?
- Two words: Snickerdoodle cookies.
- I'm reading Joanna Philbin's The Daughters Join the Party. I wanted to dislike it because I figured she landed an agent and publisher because of her famous father (snarky, I know), but I actually like it.
- I can't believe I have nearly 300 followers on Google Friend Connect. You guys rock!

My Irish self has never even HEARD of Snickerdoodle cookies, but I sure wouldn't mind being snowed in with some.
You're right to cut down on blogging. It's fun, but time consuming. There come times when you need to cut back on it, like reducing socialising in your final year at college.
Your revisions are far more important than blogging so stick with it. If you find time, stop by my blog (sorry the post is soooo long) but I am hosting my first blogfest ever and have some really great prizes. I am hoping that friends like you can help me spread the word. I am glad you are having a productive year. I have the same issue that you do-I am gtting far too comfortable working from home in my pajamas.
Take care,
Melissa
I don't know what snickerdoodles are, but that is the best name ever :-)
I love a good snow day, as long as I don't have to cancel any patients. Sounds like you're making the most of yours! Good luck with your revisions. And--it looks like you need to offer forth a recipe for snickerdoodles for your non-American readers. They don't know what they're missing!
Oooh, a three-day snow day - bliss! I'd definitely be writing. Though the cookies sound good too. Congrats on finding your balance!
That is A LOT of snow! And can you pass me the Snickerdoodle cookies??
I love this post, but feel very sad for the people who don't know what snickerdoodles are! Who knew it was a local cookie? I think someone needs to post a good recipe for all these people to try.
Congrats on the near 300 followers Emily!
I love snow days! You can send some my way. Kelley tried, it didn't work, except for a flurry or two.
I was so curious about Joanna Philbin's book and I thought the same thing as you. Now I'm going to have to give it a shot.
Snickerdoodle cookies! Wow, I'm hungry now. And yay for finding the perfect balance between blogging and writing!
After almost two days in my pjs, I had to get dressed yesterday afternoon. Very sad. But as soon as I got home, straight back into the stretchy pants I went. :)
I love getting snowed in! Enjoy it with your cookies and pjs:)
I'm glad you found your balance and have tons of followers! You'll pass little ole me up in no time:)
snickerdoodle cookies, lol!
Are you outside my house? Seriously, I just pulled out a batch of those yummy cookies. :)
I'm always struggling to find balance. You seem to have a good idea there--doubled your writing you say. Hmmm.
Two more and you're at three hundred!
Balance? What's balance?
I see you successfully switched to the new comment thingy. I tried but just keep coming up with a blank white screen. Weird. Snowing here too and we're supposed to be snowed in over the next couple of days.
I bet you have something like them in Ireland. I'll post the recipe tomorrow for you to take a gander at!
I'm snowed in again, but I've decided to get dressed today! Big doings around here.
Really? Stop back for the recipe. I bet you have something like them in England.
I've had to reschedule three appointments this week. Snow shuts everything down where I live.
Cookies and writing? Who could go wrong? :)
Today is day four of being snowed in, and it's coming down harder. I'm thinking I should bake more cookies. :)
I'll post my recipe tomorrow. Hopefully we can introduce those who are snickerdoodle cookie virgins to them.
Thanks, L.A.!
The PNW is getting hammered. I'd love to send it your way!
Thanks, Meredith!
Doesn't everything have stretch in them these days? :)
I doubt that. I've slowed down a bit. No time to check out new fab bloggers.
Yum, yum!
We should swap recipes!
Really! But I do miss all of you.
Yeah, that elusive balance. Who knew it really exists?
Wow, blogging/writing balance... strange. Does it actually exist? :)
I did have to switch to the new blogger interface to make the comment change work. It wouldn't work on the old version.
As for being snowed in, you should bake snickerdoodle cookies!
I know, right? Maybe I spoke too soon.
OH man, now I want a Snickerdoodle. I'm still finding my balance. Hehe. I'm not supposed to be trolling blogs today.
We have slush down here not snow. The kids are so disappointed.
I'm glad you have more time to revise. I'm on the home stretch. My CP's have the final chapters. I can't wait to send it to you. EEK.
I want some!! I bet they are better than Girl Scout cookies.
See, I don't miss snow but I do miss a reason to live in pajamas and eat cookies. Oh, who am I kidding - I do those things anyway. :)
Yay! I'm hoping I'll be finished by the end of the month so we can swap. February will be beta reading month. Good thing it's leap year. : )
My kids think so, but I blackmail them for compliments: "If you don't like these, I'll never bake them again." Ha!
Ha! Ain't that the truth?
That's one of the things I loved about living in New England--being snowed in for two or three days. It was great. Kick up the fireplace, read a good book, enjoy the scenery, shovel the driveway (ugh), wondering what the rest of the world was doing.
Yep - I used to do five days or more a week. Now I do three. It suits me.
I also write up posts way ahead of time (for some things) and I really love having choices of posts to put up depending on my mood for the day.
My husband and I went out into 45 mph wind last night to shovel the snowdrifts off our driveway, knowing they'd be back this morning, but also knowing that if we didn't - no one was going anywhere and after a four day weekend, my children HAD to be back in school.
Also. I love the look of your blog. Very simple. Very cool. And I think I've said that before, but I'm sayin' it again anyway.
Sounds a lot like my recent days, only I'm telling my kids to settle down. They're bouncing off the walls!
I feel your pain. Life down here shuts down with more than an inch. The ice is the killer.
Thanks, Jolene! It suits my needs, for now. :)
Oh my goodness. I love snickerdoodle cookies and hanging around in my pajamas all day. It's too bad I'm on a diet or I would totally whip some up right now! <3
Glad to know all the good things in your life!
Snow = good
Snickerdoodle cookies = good
Increased writing time = good
Life = good
:D
Keep up with your goals! I don't want to be responsible for derailing you.
Oh, Snickerdoodles. Another nemesis of mine. I hate the cold, but sometimes I love being stuck inside in my pajamas. Lazy days are the best! :)
I've tried to keep it down (by 'it' I mean 'writing.' What'd you think I meant?) to only a couple times a week. I think I'm close to that, but I can't resist reading and commenting on posts. This does take up a fair amount of my day.
Which leaves me precious little time for that other 'it.'
Although you'll never hear Mrs. Penwasser complain.
Oh, and snickerdoodles rock.
Not as much as 'it', though.
But, close.
Yes, they are!
Al, you're one funny man. I feel you on the blogging bit. It's great until "it" interferes with the other "it." Then it's gotta go.
I want to be snowed in for a few days as long as I have coffee. And snickerdoodles would be nice, too.
Man - I'm so jealous. Pajamas and snickerdoodle cookies! PLUS - you're getting so much writing done! You rock!
Pajamas, cookies, reading, and writing? Sounds fantastic! :)
Oh my... you share one of my passions - snickerdoodle cookies... yummy. Hubby's been bugging me to make him some...might just have to now:)
I LOVE the snow and Snickerdoodle cookies--they're both so magical. I hope you're having a wonderful day :0)
They are yum!
Yeah, it's been great.
It is!
My husband really likes them, too. :)
Thanks. Same to you!
You DO mean the first 'it', right?
Hooray for more writing time. :)
I've never heard of snickerdoodle cookies--is that a tragedy?
Congratulations on the followers!
You got it, dude. ;D
I'll post the recipe for snickerdoodles tomorrow. They're basically sugar cookies rolled in cinnamon sugar. Yum!
Hey Emily! I gave your blog an award ;)
I don't know what I'd do if I had to cut down to blogging two days a week. But that's great that your writing is benefiting!
You have to do what works for you!
Well if you have to be snowed in, snickerdoodles and a book sound like great companions! ;) And I was wondering about that Philbin book, maybe I will check it out!
I agree! Forced relaxation is always nice.
It's a rare rainy day here in CA. I'm under my quit blogging, almost ready to launch into my writing day. Maybe some butter toffee coffee first.
Sounds like the perfect day to me!
Ooh...that's a lot of Google friends. Not surprised at all. Glad to hear you are finding your good mojo with the blog/writing balance. Hope you're feeling well.
I am! Thanks, Christa!
