What's New?

Okay, so it isn't Wednesday, but I had tell you what's new. Here's what's happening with moi:

1. Right before Christmas my husband, who was laid off eighteen months ago, was offered a job! It's an incredible opportunity that allows him to use his shiny new MBA. It was the best Christmas present EVER.

2. I won a free editing service from Cassandra Marshall! I opted to have her critique my query, and I'm eager to hear what she has to say.

3. Seventy-eight awesome bloggers have taken my Blogging Survey. I've been peeking at the results, and I'm telling you, the findings are enlightening. (Also, four people took Part One but not Part Two. Are you one of them?)

4. I signed up for the I'm Hearing Voices Blog Hop and Is It Getting HOT in Here? Blog Hop. Check them out! Both are going to be a blast.

5. I spent hours over winter break surfing the web for the perfect blog design. I didn't find it. I know exactly what I want, so I'm going to hire a design team. Any referrals for who to use?

Congrats to the hubs! What a great way to start 2012!!!

I'll take the survey and tweet about it to get your count up!

I love your blog design, but I do know if you hop over to Rose Coopers blog there is a link at the bottom of a girl she once referred me to! She does great web/blog designs at a pretty low cost as well!

Yay for your hubby and the new job. I took the survey, too. Great questions.

It's great news about the job. It's even better that it'll let him use his MBA.

Off to take the blogging survey now...

Congrats about the job! :)

You have such happy news to spread. Hope you get a great critique on your query! And best of luck on your blog design.

Iain, thanks!

Shell, I appreciate your support!

Cheyanne, if you find out who the designer is, I'd love to know.

Jennifer, thanks! I hope Cassandra rips my query to shreds. : )

Yay for the job!

And I'll see YOU at the blog hop(s) ;)

Yay! I'm so glad he got the job offer! That is an awesome present :)

And I won an edit too :) She was super super super helpful!

Thanks for spreading the word on both of the bloghops I'm doing! I really have my work cut out for me, lol.

The "I'm hearing voices" blog hop has some insanely good prizes. Two full manuscript critiques are worth several thousand dollars if they are as detailed as I think they will be.

Hooray for being able to use the MBA. I graduated with an MFA in theatre and it took me two years before I got to take it out for a spin. So frustrating.

Angela Cothran said...

New blog design? I can't wait to see what you come up with. I bet it will rock. Thanks for the shout out :) Have an awesome weekend!

I am so happy for you and your husband!

I wish I knew a good blog designer. I know Shannon Messenger had her's done and she listed the person that did it, but I'm not sure they do it for a living.

The query critique should be really helpful.

Congrats on the JOB! That is great news. And also for the service from Cassandra! That's awesome. I found a great girl that does blogs, but she is out of commission until March. Her button is at the bottom of my right hand column. She's fun! Best of luck Em! Have a great weekend :)

Emily R. King said...

Leslie, yeah. We were really worried if we'd wasted our money. It's a relief to know we haven't!

Leigh, thanks a bunch! I'll check out the designer you mentioned. I'm not in a huge hurry, so maybe she'll take me on when she's off her hiatus.

Congrats on the job! My husband and I went through a job loss a few years ago, and it was challenging. Looks like you're starting the New Year off on the right foot...
Looking forward to seeing the results of the surveys.

The new of your husband's job offer is so great I could dance a jig for you both. I won't cause you such embarrassment so I'll throw virtual confetti for you.
*throws confetti*

Alright. Congrats on the editorial critiquing. Sounds like that's going to rock. And those surveys? Doh! Got'em done.

I'm so excited for you and your husband Emily! That truly is an awesome present:)
I wish I had a name to give you for your blog. I've been thinking about a little change too with mine so I'll be interested to see who you find.
And I did the survey, I can't wait to see what the results are!

Sounds like you've had some wonderful positives going on. Ya know, I like this page, in particular that red ribbon. Guess I'll eventually see what you have in mind when you find the right person to roll it out.

congrats about your husband. Mine wasn't out of work for 18 months but for five. It was hard, but I wouldn't trade the time he got to spend with the girls.

All the best with your query.

Emily R. King said...

Carol, thank you! He's thrilled.

Ladonna, it was hard. Really hard. I'm so glad that part of our life is over, but it's going to be a shock for the kids when he goes back to work. It's been a blessing having him home.

Congrats about the job and the query crit! I'm looking forward to the Is It Getting Hot In Here Blog Hop, and I'll check out that other one. Also, Janice Foy (I think that's who Leigh recommended also, not sure) did my blog design and she was FABULOUS to work with. I do know that she is taking time off until March, but she's so worth looking into. Her website is: www.bakinupblogs.com.
