Oh, Those High School Dances! Blog Hop

Last week I wrote a post entitled High School: Heaven or Hell? You can read it here if you're interested.

It received an incredible response, in which most bloggers shared they didn't enjoy their high school experience. Kelley found this hard to believe because she loved high school.

I responded to Kelley's comment and we got into a long e-mail chain about high school. Kelley explained why cared for it and I explained why I'd never go back. At one point I said to her, "I wish us bloggers could share prom or homecoming pictures. Can you imagine how fun that would be?"

Kelley thought this was a fabulous idea, and the Oh, Those High School Dances! Blog Hop was born!

It's going to be super fun and yes, there will be prizesSix prizes to be exact.

Here are the rules for participation:
1. Post pictures of your high school dances. (Make sure you tell us which one is you if they're group pictures.)
2. Share with us your funniest high school dance story.
3. That's it!

You do not need to be a follower of my or Kelley's blog, but we'd appreciate it if you were.

There are three categories to win prizes, and Kelley and I will both choose a winner.

The three categories are:
1. Best Dressed
2. Funniest Dance Story
3. Cutest Couple

What can you win? A choice between a three chapter critique or whatever book you desire ($10 or less).

So dig through your photo albums and scan in your pictures. This is going to be a crazy fun blog hop!

Oh, and don't forget to grab the button in the sidebar to spread the word!

If I can't find the picture, I'll need to back out - but I think I know where they are.

Too funny.

Darn. I have these photos but no funny stories (that I can tell). LOL

We didn't really do high school dances in the UK particularly, at least not ay my school, so I won't be able to join in this time. However, I am looking forward to seeing everyone's photos!

No pictures that I can remember.
Back in the day, our dance moves were sad - three steps forward, three steps back, repeat.

You folks are brave. Can't wait to see what y'all come up with. =)

Sorry, nothing to share there.

Oh, how fun Emily! I wish I had a picture to share and a funny story. (Mine is a sad one. It ends with stitches in my toes b/c I stepped on a broken wine stem- ouch!!) Well, I can't wait to to check them all out in May. :)

I can't include any pictures because I'm anonymous (mostly) on my blog; if I put up my pictures, then mean people from high school (and some of them are still mean, even though it's more than a decade later) might find me online and then all madness would ensue. Also, I don't have any prom pictures because I never went to prom; I went to Dairy Queen on prom night. :(

What a cute idea. Count me in!

I never went to prom or homecoming. :( My boyfriend... ahem... future hubby... didn't take me! Ya, he still hasn't heard the end of it!

Maybe I'll post about that. Count me in!

Can't wait to see the pics people post. Will have to dig through my attic to see if we have any before I sign up. ;)

Omi gosh. I'm excited because I had that Barbie in your picture--isn't that silly. I LOVED Barbies as a little girl and since I saved most of mine, that dress is probably somewhere in the Barbie clothes drawer in my little girl's room.

I am SOOO in!!! Hmmm...now which embarrassing picture should I pick?

Eek! You all are brave people. :)

All I remember of high school dances was the thumping beat of the bass in pretty much every song that was played. :)

This is going to be super funny! Great idea! And I'm on your side of the argument about high school :)

Jaye Robin, good to have you!

Kyra, bummer!

Richard, really? Nothing?

Jennifer, come back for some laughs!

Tara, I have to dig for mine, too. It'll be hilarious.

Suze, that's okay! Join in on the story part. You could still win a critique.

Ilima, yay!

Madeline, if you have a picture, you should join in!

This sounds like fun. :) When are we supposed to post?

Sara said...

GAH! I didn't go to any high school dances. I'm sure I missed out on some massive right of passage, but I was busy on a competitive horse back riding team.

QueendSheena said...

I love this idea. I have plans for a bloghop myself but still working out some kinks.

Bahahahaha! This is spectacular! I can't wait!

Chantele Sedgwick said...

Okay ... I usually don't do blog hops, since I always forget about them until the very last minute, but this one I might have to join in. I'll see if I can dig up some pictures... ;)

Sadly, my post would be a blank page. No one ever asked me to the prom. :(

And now I shall go cry into my pillow...again. :P

I probably have a photo I could scan somewhere, but I can't seem to remember any particularly funny stories. Drat!

Best of luck with the blog hop. :D

Suze said...

Why not? I'll give it a shot. It is a cute homecoming story. :)

Emily R. King said...

QueendSheena, let me know when you do. I'll be game!

Leigh, glad you're in!

Carol, bummer. My break is next month.

Carrie, you could make a story up...? OR share just your photo to qualify to win a book or critique!

Suze, AWESOME!

Susan Flett Swiderski said...

Bummer. Sounds like a lot of fun, but I don't have a single picture from any of my high school dances. Guess I'll have to settle for looking at everybody else's.

What a fun idea. I can't wait to see the posts.

English school kids have only had the pleasure of proms for the past few years. Probably for the best, I hate to think what I would have defined as formal wear in my teens!

Caitlin said...

What an awesome idea! I'm not sure where mine are so I won't be participating, but I'm looking forward to checking out all the entries.

Emily R. King said...

Susan, no pictures? That is a bummer!

Peaches, aw.

Samantha, yay!

Caitlin, if you find them, join in the fun!

Caitlin said...

I went on a mini-search last night but it was to no avail. Also, passed a couple of awards on to you over at my blog!

I know I'm way late on this train, but I can't wait for this. I have the best story to share and loads of pictures :)

Trisha said...

I don't have any funny dance stories, but I'll participate anyway ;)

Christa Desir said...

I totally want to do this, but I only went to one high school dance and I'm so embarrassed to mention it. Needless to say, I had to fake sick so that afterwards, I didn't have to go out with the dude to dinner.

This sounds like fun . . .but that means I have to scan pictures . . .hmm, and my pics from those days are all scary, and my experiences go from boring to sweet, to rebellious - I didn't have a date for my senior prom but went anyway with a group of friends.
