- I have a new favorite treat (picture to the right). I tell myself they're good for me because they're dark chocolate with pomegranate juice. Please don't burst my bubble.
- I had a baby shower last week. The theme was children's books. Being showered with books was fabulous!
- My rewrite is moving slowly. Just like I am. I'm waddling through pages the same way I'm waddling through life. SLOW.
- I'm super excited for Storymakers! Those of you who are attending, expect a hug. And if you pretend you don't know me, I'll make a scene. You've been warned.
- I won a Fandango gift card to see Hunger Games. Thanks Jessie!
Also, Samantha at Writing Through College passed on the Sunshine Award. Thanks, Samantha!
And I was tagged for the Lucky Meme by Caitlin at All About Growing Up and Becoming A Famous Author, Amanda Olivier, Tyrean at Tyrean's Writing Spot, and Shiela at Writings, Workouts, and Were-Jaguars. I hope I didn't miss anyone.
Here are the directions:
1. Go to page 77 of your current MS/WIP
2. Go to line 7
3. Copy down the next 7 lines, sentences, or paragraphs, and post them as they're written.
Here's mine from my newly entitled WiP, I CHOOSE YOU:
“A biggie, but I’m not surprised. The only reason this is
such a shock for Elliot is because he’s in love with her. She broke his heart
when she left.” Hope shakes her head, her chin-length hair swinging side to
side. “Having Angie back in his life will be hard on him.” She stands and
struts past me to the door, then stops at the threshold and asks, “Are you
coming tomorrow night?”
“I don’t know yet.”
“You will,” she says with a knowing smile.
“Get plenty of rest. We hunt demons tomorrow.”

Ooh, that last line was a little unexpected! I love it!
I hate to burst your bubble, so I won't.
Ooooo, those look yummy!
Happy Sunshine Award!
Love this excerpt! Very cool!
oh that last line GOT me! I want more more more!!!!! please?
When we adopted our son my family threw me a children's book baby shower. Best shower ever! Even if I did have to pay to ship an extra suitcase full of books home.
Love your excerpt.
I've discovered Greek yogurt and love it. I plan to start querying next week so I may try that little treat up there to get me through it.
Have a great weekend!
Just keep telling yourself the treats are good for you. Enjoy seeing The Hunger Games!
Demon hunting?!? So cool!!
I love the pomegranates. Also the acai berries. And with dark chocolate, they are absolutely good for you. Where I work we call these vitamins...
I'll support you on the chocolate thing. Pomegrantes are good. Dark chocolate is good. My mother eats (a little) piece of dark chocolate every day--for what I can't remember. But she's a healthy eater. And mothers are always right (at least now that I'm an adult I believe so!)
Oooh. Sounds like a wonderful shower. Congrats on the awards!
Those treats look delicious!
Love your snippet--that last line was so unexpected! Totally makes me want to read more!
No, duh, kind of a question, but -- you're preggers?
Those are totally healthy.
Totally.
Pass a few over here please? :)
Oooh glad your baby shower was fun! I sympathize with the waddling (in life and in writing... sigh.) Are you due very soon?
Those chocolate pomegranate things look amazing. I want.
Those snacks have to be healthy. Dark chocolate? Pomegranate? Double win!
Good luck with the waddling. :)
I am so going to find me some pom chocolate! Thanks for always being your wonderful self. Waddle on sista! Waddle on!
Whoa! I love that last line! I so want to read more.
Ooo, I like that last line! And hooray for book baby showers! Those dark chocolate pomegranate things look yummy too!! :D
OMG your new obbession looks amazing. YUMMY!
Love the WiP exert, it makes me want to open your doc and read, but I will be patient for the rewrite.
Have a great weekend.
Chills on the last little bit :) I'd forgotten you have and Angie in your story :) Made me smile.
My fave partof your excerpt.
“Are you coming tomorrow night?”
“I don’t know yet.”
“You will,” she says with a knowing smile. “Get plenty of rest. We hunt demons tomorrow.”
Fun and bad ass at the same time.
Not bursting your bubble. Dark Chocolate Pemegranate is delicious and nutritious.
Won a gift card for the Hunger Games? Jealous!!
Baby book shower sounds fabulous and I love the details in your excerpt!
Yay for demon hunting! Oh my, I want more! Also, I need to find those dark chocolate pomegranate snack--how yummy!
yum!
and sweet snippet!
a scrumptious post for friday =)
Oh, I haven't had those is a long time! Yummy wrapped in chocolate:)
Super excited for Storymakers. I'll totally take a hug!
I have an identical bag of those chocolates on my shelf - been eating them slowly for months. The good thing is I have to eat them slowly..so filling. And yeah, they're totally fat free. In fact, they suck fat from your body while simultaneously growing the brain cells of your little munchkin to genius levels.
If you're pregnant I mean. I'm currently enjoying all my new brain cells, courtesy of the pomegranate seeds. :) *nomnomnom*
I LOVE everyone's Lucky 7's bits. They are so fun to read. Also, yay for kids book and chocolate-covered "fruit."
:)
C
Cool lines. So nonchalant, as if everyone hunts demons. Love it.
Happy Weekend!
Actually, dark chocolate IS good for you. :D And it sounds like your baby shower was a lot of fun!
I love your excerpt. :D
Great exerpt! Your last line is awesome! :)
Mmmm...pomegranate. I OD'ed on those a while back, but I'd gladly do it again:)
Oooh that last line left me with a thrill of intrigue - nice scene!
Congrats on your soon-to-come little one and your baby shower - sounds like an awesome theme!
Chocolate comes from a bean doesn't it? That makes it healthy (well, that's what my sisters and I say.)
I loved the extract. The demon hook on the end just grabbed me.
You're so great, Em. <---Can I call you that? ;)
Loved the excerpt. You're fabulous. Can't wait to read more of your work and for you to have your baby! Ugh! Both "projects" are overwhelming :D
I love the last line of your excerpt. Definitely unexpected!
Congratulations on the award!
Kyra, thanks. : )
Richard, ha! I appreciate it.
Connie, it was a fun shower.
Suze, yeppers.
Sangu, I have until the end of May, if I make it that long.
Sheena-Kay, aw, thanks!
Tara, I'm glad you liked it.
Carol, demon hunters are nonchalant, didn't you know? :)
Mark, I'm with you!
Tyrean, thanks. The children's books idea was wonderful.
Imogen, it's good to hear your were intrigued!
I loved the snippet! I'm finding that's the thing about the Lucky Seven Meme - it makes me want to read the whole work.
Best baby shower ever :-)
And that last line hit me like a ton of bricks. This looks like a good read :-)
That snack totally sounds healthy. (And much tastier than chocolate-covered pickles.) Love your snippet.
I love that last line in your 7, "tomorrow we hunt demons."
Anything chocolate has to be good for you. :)
The last line really did it for me... how cool - hunting demons... I like it.
Your sweet treat sure does look yum. Enjoy.
Hah! "And if you pretend you don't know me, I'll make a scene."
Oh, I so wish I could be there to see that. :D
A few things about this post make me think we are the same person. I always justify fruit covered dark chocolate , the same way I justify red wine. :) And I too am SLOWLY revising. Some things, you can't rush. Happy revising!
I CHOOSE YOU is such a cool title. And I LOVE the last line you posted. Demon hunting is the shizzle.
Pomegranates! Remember, that’s what Persephone ate when she went to the underworld. Because she ate X number of the blood-red seeds, she had to stay there for the same number of months each year, bringing winter to ancient Greece.
I guess hers weren’t covered in dark chocolate.
Lara, I know! It's a great meme.
Susan, thanks. :)
Tania, it is yummy. I wonder if they have it down under?
Carrie, I hope everyone will heed my warning. I WILL take drastic measures. : )
Hello!! Awww you had a baby shower! How lovely!! I hope you have lots more dark chocolate pomegranate! What a concoction! Yum yum!
Thanks for your gorgeous extract of your story!! Hunting demons is such tiring work! :-) Take care
x
I tell myself the same thing re that snack. We can't both be wrong, can we? :)
Love the last line of that excerpt!
I have a free ticket to see Hunger Games and will use it as soon as I can. Enjoy the movie!
Emily, I tagged you for the Lucky & Meme Award - I don't know if you had received before.
Sounds like you had a wonderful shower! Books for baby - how perfect!
Those Dark Chocolate Pomegranate candies look delicious. Dark chocolate is supposed to be good for you and so is pomegranate juice. As long as you don't get carried away and overdo it, which I bet is hard, huh? Your WIP sounds great. Perfect last line for that excerpt!
Lynn, nice to see you again! Yes, they are hard to stop eating. Someone take them away!
I've been wanting to try those dark chocolate pomegranate things, but I haven't yet. I think I have to now!
And I hope you loved the Hunger Games. Though I'm not sure how anyone couldn't!
Those treats look yummy. Bring them to the Hunger Games and really enjoy yourself.
Congratulations on the awards. I want more than just seven lines, please. ; )
I agree! That IS a great end line there!! :) And I love the looks of those pomegranate chocolate thingies--oh yummers! How cool is it that you won a Fandango gift card to see Hunger Games!! I still haven't seen it yet. Enjoy. :)
