GUTGAA

No, the title isn't gibberish.

  3. Cool! Thanks for sharing this. I have a few friends who are looking for agents. I'll pass the link on and hope that they are some of this year's success stories.

  4. You're welcome, everyone!

Suze, I'm on the fence. Not sure my MS will be query-ready by then. I don't want to be impatient.

  5. I signed up a while ago but now I guess I'll cheer on all the participants.

  6. How awesome! I'm not ready to participate, but I'm glad that there are contests out there that can put people in touch with literary agents. Perhaps next time...

  8. I read about this before. Thanks for the reminder Em.

  9. There's a lot of wisdom in that. I think one of the biggest (and most counterproductive) temptations for a writer is to query too soon. This has certainly been my experience, anyway.

Solid thinking from you -- but I would anticipate nothing less.

  10. I signed up! I have to ask, where do you get all the cool backgrounds and headers? I've searched the internet wide and far, and can't seem to find something to use for a background that is unusual. I see all these people (including you) with unique, non-blogger backgrounds and am so curious!

  11. Suze, I don't know if it's caution so much as fear of the query trenches. :)

Lara, Google "free blogger templates." The mistake I made initially was searching for backgrounds, but I wanted a total remake. Just keep clicking on links until you find one you like. If you're looking for a specific themed template, add that in your search. For example: free blogger book template. You'll find a whole bunch. If you need any help installing the template code, let me know. They can be finicky.

  13. Kim, this post really helped me figure out if I'm ready or not. http://writeoncon.com/2012/08/knowing-when-your-ms-is-ready-to-query-by-literary-agent-lara-perkins/

  16. It would be ok once in a while if you did post a gibberish title :)

  17. I signed up, but now I'm not sure how viable it'll be as I assume it'll be US agents and I'm in the UK. Any advice on that? Whatever happens, I'm sure I'll learn loads!

  18. Hey Nick, Deana here. Actually, I have good news for you. I do have an agent participating that is in the UK. So if you want you can still participate. I hope that helps:)

  19. Thanks for the tip! I'll search blogger templates this weekend! Who knows what craziness might occur!

  20. Hmm, I'd never heard of this. I kind of shy away from putting samples on my blog, but we'll see.

  21. I'm so impressed that Deana put this all together :)

  22. I'm pretty sure I signed up for the fact-or-fiction blog hop. Oh dear, I need to put it on my calendar!! :D

  23. Oh! Good promo for Deana! I've got to do that on Monday...*mental note*
I hope you decide to participate, Emily. At the least, you'll get some great feedback on your pitch you can use for future querying.

  24. What a great idea for a blogfest! Have fun (whew, I have no time for blogfests these days...altho I guess I already have an agent so I wouldn't need this one). Enjoy the last coupla weeks of your summer!!!

  26. I signed up for GUTGAA- thanks for the reminder. I have summer brain. Looking forward to some fact/fiction summer stories in the blog hop.

  27. Haha... summer brain. I can relate!

I'm excited for GUTGAA now that I have a story finished and ready to go. Well, as ready as I can be after obsessing for months.

Also, I like your blog's format. Is it one of the preselected formats or is this more advanced? (Looks advanced) :)

  28. Yeah, I'm super psyched for this one. I indirectly got my agent from this last year.
